ECMI brings back in-person music lessons and welcomes new faculty members in 2021-2022 school year

ELLSWORTH - Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI) has opened registration for the 2021-2022 school year and will be offering both in-person and virtual music lessons. Interested students may visit ellsworthcommunitymusic.org for music lesson inquiry and registration. ECMI’s school year begins September 13 and students may continue to sign-up for lessons into the fall.

Students of all ages may study piano, strings and voice and now have the added option of music therapy sessions.

ECMI is proud to welcome three new faculty to its team of professional teachers in 2021. Deiran Manning will teach piano, Emily Stodola will teach violin and Carla Tanguay will offer music therapy sessions.

Manning is originally from Maine and earned his undergraduate and master’s degree from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. His notable teachers include pianists Edmund Battersby, Edward Auer, Karen Shaw, Jeffrey Swann and baritone Wolfgang Brendel. He has worked at New York University as an Adjunct Professor of Piano and currently serves as Executive Director of the Winter Harbor Festival.

Stodola recently moved to Maine and has been teaching violin and viola to children and adults of all ages using the Suzuki Method since 2003. She has taught private and group lessons at North Shore Suzuki Strings, Barcel Suzuki String Academy and the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music (WCM). She has also taught music theory classes, coached/directed small string chamber ensembles, and musical storytelling at WCM’s Summer Music Institute.

Tanguay is board-certified and the owner of Modulations Therapies. She moved to Maine a decade ago and works with clients of all ages and abilities, using music-based interventions to address health, educational, and habilitation goals. Tanguay has been a featured speaker at national conferences, published research articles in peer-reviewed journals, and was recognized with a professional practice award from the American Music Therapy Association.
