Instrument Petting Zoo

Instrument Petting Zoo hosted by Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI) at Ellsworth Public Library. 

ELLSWORTH - Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI) offers its next Instrument Petting Zoo from 10:00am-12:00pm on March 23rd, at the Ellsworth Public Library. An interactive musical instrument demonstration featuring the cello, violin, piano and guitar. ECMI instructors will be present for the event offering demonstrations, allowing young children 4 and up to touch, play and experience them in person. Join us at the Ellsworth Public Library to hear some music and experience hands-on interactions with our instructors and their instruments.

The Instrument Petting zoo will be held at the Ellsworth Public Library at 20 State Street in Ellsworth, Maine. The series is sponsored by Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI). Admission is free to the public.

12 weeks, Tuesdays 11am-12pm

Class Fee is $130 for full 12 weeks

The details:

1. Twelve weekly rehearsals, starting February 6th from 11am-12pm and ending May 7st, with no rehearsal on February 20th, or April 16th.

2. Led by Gina Schuh-Turner with piano accompaniment by Kimberly Battaline. Mixed genres will be presented including show tunes, oldies, Americana, etc. No audition required - all voices are welcome.

3. Participants will work toward the Spring Adult Recital on May 11 in the Moore Community Theater. The performance is free and open to the public.

The chorus will be led by Gina Schuh-Turner. Gina holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and has been teaching private voice for more than 20 years. She teaches locally and online to students from Ellsworth to South Korea. Gina is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association, the union of professional stage performers and stage managers. As a choral conductor and music director, Gina has enjoyed working with both adults and children, most recently as a music director (choir and handbells) at First Christian Church in Loveland, Colorado for 5 years. Performance career highlights include being an original cast member of Denver's longest running musical, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change for 4.5 years (almost 2,000 performances) at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and performing Off-Broadway in The Fantasticks, working with the show's creators, Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt. Gina's regional performance awards include the Marlowe Award for Best Actress in a Children's show, and she is a two-time recipient of Westward's Best of Denver Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Gina is also a member of the faculty at ECMI.

Please complete a registration form for each singer. You will be invoiced for the full $130 or your first payment of $32.50 via the email provided; payment is due on or before 2/6/24.
